1.  When the Exams Are Held

•The NSC (National Senior Certificate) finals occur annually between October and December, with timetables published in advance by the Department of Basic Education.  

•For 2024, the exams ran from 21 October to 28 November 2024.

2.  2024 Exam Timetable Highlights

Below is an overview of the 2024 NSC exam schedule:

•Week 1 (21–25 October):

•Monday 21 Oct: English HL/FAL/SAL Paper 3; Afrikaans HL/FAL/SAL Paper 3

•Tuesday 22 Oct: CAT P1; languages like Arabic, Spanish, etc.

•Wednesday 23 Oct: Business Studies P1; IT P1 (practical)

•Thursday 24 Oct: African languages HL/FAL/SAL P3; Indian languages Paper 1

•Friday 25 Oct: Other African and sign languages Paper 3; international language Paper 2; Equine Studies

•Week 2: Includes English comprehension papers, History, Maths P1, etc., with a non-exam day on Thursday 31 October. 

•Weeks 3–6: Cover second papers in mathematics, physical and life sciences, history, geography, business studies, accounting, technical subjects, and conclude with practical rewrites in CAT and IT. 

Notably, exams follow a morning (09:00) and afternoon (14:00) session format.

3.  2025 Exam Timeline (Preview)

Looking ahead, the 2025 NSC exams are scheduled as follows:

•Start: Tuesday, 21 October 2025

•End: Thursday, 27 November 2025 

These will follow the same session structure (morning and afternoon), beginning with practicals like CAT and IT, with language and core subjects thereafter.

For the 2024 Exams:

•Results Release: NSC results were released on 15 January 2025 via the SACAI portal. 

•Remarking / Re-checking:

•Applications opened 16 January 2025

•Closed 30 January 2025

•Remark results released 19 February 2025

•Viewing applications opened 20 February, closed 27 February

•Viewing sessions ran 10–31 March 2025 

Checking Results:

•Full-time NSC results are available through the DBE website, while part-time candidate results must be obtained at the examination center where the exams were written.
